If you are anything like me, then perhaps in the last few weeks you have been making more exceptions to your diet than normal: white flour, sugar, alcohol, coffee. You may have noticed a worsening of your skin. So now would be a good time to get back to your healthy habits again and this is best done with a brief detox.
Since I am not a fan of radical detoxification treatments (I too like to eat!), I recommend you try this gentle variant:
Have simple and easily digestible meals three times a day:
-
-
- Freshly prepared:
So the body also gets enough vitamins and minerals and is spared from preservatives and other additives. - Stewed vegetables and vegetable soups:
Especially the green varieties and plants in the cabbage family contain a lot of phytonutrients to aid in detoxification and are easily digestible when prepared this way. - Easily digestible whole grains:
Basmati rice, barley, oats and quinoa support digestive activity in the intestine without any extra burden. - Red meat, dairy products and eggs:
These foods are more easily digestible and require the use of our detoxification organs. - Avoid sugar, white flour products, caffeine, alcohol and all chemical additives.
- Freshly prepared:
-
And so you can boost the detoxification additionally:
-
-
- Drink plenty of pure water (non-carbonated):
Which helps in the elimination of water-soluble metabolic products. - Bitter foods:
The bitter substances in dark green leafy vegetables and herbs stimulate the various digestive juices. - Fresh ginger:
It stimulates the digestion enzymes, promotes stomach emptying, is sweat-inducing, mucus-dissolving and activates the circulation. - Sweating (sauna, steam bath, sports):
Through sweating we also eliminate substances which the body no longer needs. - Body brush massage:
The lymph system is mechanically stimulated to dissolve substances from the adipose tissue and to transport them on through the circulatory system.
- Drink plenty of pure water (non-carbonated):
-
